NY race regulators put horse breakdown data online

Posted:

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York horse racing regulators have set up a new online database of animal deaths, accidents and other information dating back to 2009.

The Racing and Wagering Board announcement Monday came as a board task force investigates the deaths of 20 horses at Aqueduct over the past four months.

Board Chairman John Sabini says the information being made public on the site will provide greater transparency about what's happening at tracks across the state.

The database includes details about incidents, horse and jockey names, track names and whether the horse was a thoroughbred or running at a harness track.

The board is also posting almost 30 years of information about fines, suspensions and other actions taken against owners, trainers and jockeys.
