BENNINGTON, VT - Bennington police recaptured an inmate a week after he escaped from a holding cell.
Bennington police say 24-year-old Thomas Mayer escaped from a holding cell on March 24.
After receiving a tip, police found Mayer in the parking lot of a Bennington Cumberland Farms.
Police say when approached, Mayer used a false name.
Mayer's back in custody for a previous patrol violation and has been charged with giving false information to a police officer.
