AMSTERDAM, N.Y. - The Amsterdam Police Department has arrested a man on Tuesday for allegedly raping a then 13-year-old victim between 2000 and 2003.
Police say 39-year-old David Hopkins of 16 Almond Street, Apt. 3 in Gloversville, was arrested after the female victim, who was under the age of 13 at the time of the sexual assaults, reported to police in 2011 that she was subjected to non-consensual sexual intercourse by a male living in the home during that time period.
Hopkins was taken into custody on an arrest warrant Tuesday that was issued after a lengthy investigation. He has been charged with Rape 1st-degree and remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
