TROY, N.Y. - Police say the 17-year-old male who was found shot in the head during a drive-by shooting on 9th Street in Troy on Tuesday night has succumbed to his injuries at Albany Medical Center.
Police responded to the scene of 305 9th Street in Troy at approximately 10 p.m. Tuesday evening after calls came in about multiple gun shots being fired.
The victim, 17-year-old Phillip McMillan of Troy, was rushed to Albany Medical Center in extreme critical condition after he was found lying on the sidewalk with a gun shot wound in his head. He died Wednesday morning.
Troy police closed down the scene after the occurrence at 9th Street at Rensselaer Street to investigate. A police mobile command center was also brought to the area of the shooting, but has been removed as of Wednesday evening.
Police tell NEWS10 two persons of interest were in custody on Wednesday, however have since been released. There have been no other arrests in connection with the shooting.
Chief John Tedisco says police believe they have located the dark-colored sedan that was said to have fled from the scene, but they are still investigating.
The sedan has front end damage similar to the vehicle they were searching for after the shooting. Police say the car sustained the damage after it swiped several parked vehicles while fleeing the area.
