BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont Labor Commissioner Annie Noonan says teachers and administrators in the southwestern part of the state have settled on an ongoing pay dispute that stemmed from a strike last year.
The Southwest Vermont Education Association, which represents more than 300 teachers, had filed a grievance with the Department of Labor last month. It said the board was not paying teachers according to a new contract that was ratified in November. The agreement with five school districts in Bennington, North Bennington, Shaftsbury, Pownal and Mount Anthony followed a nine-day strike.
Noonan tells the Bennington Banner the agreement was reached Friday and prohibits the parties from making public statements.
