GLENS FALLS, NY - Police in Glens Falls have arrested one man after a shooting that occurred on Bay Street Sunday night.
40-year-old Ricci Johnson, of 116 Bay Street, was arrested after police say he shot the male victim, said to be in his 20s, once in the leg. He is facing charges of first-degree Assault and Criminal Possession of a Weapon, both felonies.
Glens Falls police say the shooting incident happened around 7:20 p.m. at Johnson's residence on Bay Street. State police investigators were still active on the scene around 11:00 p.m.
Neighbors tell NEWS10 ABC the home where the shooting happened is a "trouble spot" and police have been called there on several occasions. Glens Falls Police Chief Will Valenza confirms this, saying "it is a house we have been to over the years, for various investigations."
Neighbors say they heard commotion, possibly a fight, which could have led up to the shooting. "Hearing the gun shot was scary enough," said Mary Campell. "It is scary to know it happened so close to home." Neighbors which NEWS10 spoke to say the incident is likely connected to drug activity; however police could not confirm that.
Police say the victim was not on the scene when they arrived, and he some how made it to the hospital on his own.
Johnson was arraigned in Glens Falls City Court and remanded to the Warren County jail.
