AMSTERDAM, N.Y. - The Amsterdam Fire Department says a fire on East Main Street Wednesday night has left the building uninhabitable.
Fire officials say calls came in around 10:45 p.m. for a working structure fire at 244 East Main Street, a four-family apartment building.
When they arrived on the scene, the fire was fully involved in the rear of the two-story brick building. They say the fire started on a wooden porch in the back and quickly spread upwards to the roof.
One apartment on the second floor was occupied, but all residents made it out safely.
One fire fighter received minor injuries.
The building is uninhabitable and is currently being demolished.
