Vt. woman pleads no contest to role in stabbing

Posted:

BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont woman has pleaded no contest to being an accessory to a fatal stabbing.

Forty-year-old Shannon Green of Pownal received a 1-2-year suspended sentence with two years of probation in the case of Jeffrey LaFlamme, who pleaded guilty in the 2010 death of 45-year-old Joseph Roderigue of Bennington.

Green was LaFlamme's girlfriend at the time and the ex-girlfriend of Roderigue. The Bennington Banner reports the group had been exchanging heated text messages that escalated into a confrontation at LaFlamme's home in Pownal.

State's Attorney Erica Marthage said LaFlamme and Green admitted to knowing Roderigue was coming over and laying knives out for a possible conflict. She said Green's relationship with Roderigue had been violent at times.
