Police say in late February, the church noticed the 2006 silver large enclosed Pace Trailer missing. The trailer housed a large yellow and white tent, a platform, electrical supplies, banners, and tools.
Assistant Pastor Rev. David Hickey says the trailer was stored at the conference center location on Harwood Hill. The trailer has a roof rack on the top, one door on the side and double doors in the back.
According to Hickey, the estimated replacement cost is about $20,000; $12,000 for a tent, $4,000 for a trailer and $4,000 for the other contents that were in the trailer. This is a large amount for the church, after they suffered a fire in 2007 causing massive damage to the building. Hickey said during the rebuilding process they "met for worship services under our yellow and white tent until cold weather forced us to relocate to another building."
"We didn't have enough money to rebuild the church building as it stood before the fire so we turned the building into a conference center and purchased an old Methodist church on Main Street in downtown Bennington," Hickey said. "During the time of rebuilding and remodeling, we continued our ministries of reaching out to the town of Bennington and the surrounding area."
