AMSTERDAM, N.Y. - The owner of Fashion Kicks store in Amsterdam was arrested Tuesday after police discovered the sale of counterfeit trademarked items from the store.

42-year-old Edward J. Ausfeld Jr., the owner of Fashion Kicks, located in Millers Plaza, was arrested on Tuesday after the conclusion of a two-month investigation into the sale of counterfeit merchandise from his store.

In January, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office received information that Ausfeld Jr. was offering for sale, what was believed to be counterfeit Northface jackets, Ugg brand boots and Coach brand purses.

During the investigation the New York State Police Special Investigations Unit assisted the Sheriff's Office who purchased and analyzed these items from the store, then confirmed them to be counterfeit.

On Tuesday a search warrant was executed and all counterfeit materials were seized from the store.

Ausfeld Jr. was taken into custody and charged with Trademark Counterfeiting 2nd-degree, a felony. He was processed and released and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Amsterdam Court at a later date.
