Cops: Teen arrested after threatening text message

Posted:

EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. - A Columbia County teenager was arrested by police in East Greenbush after he supposedly texted a man saying he would beat the man up the next time he saw him.

18-year-old Kyle Noetzel, of Copake, was picked up by Troopers Wednesday afternoon and charged with Aggravated Harassment 2nd-degree.

Police say the complaint was filed in July 2011. An arrest warrant was issued for Noetzel and he was summoned to appear in court. When he failed to appear, the East Greenbush Police Department asked Columbia County law enforcement to pick him up.

Under the NYS Penal Law, almost any communication which is delivered to another person, that contains threatening, annoying, or harassing words, amounts to a Class A Misdemeanor of Aggravated Harassment, and is punishable by up to one year in jail.
