PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Officials with a Pittsfield youth baseball organization say they have received several thousand dollars' worth of donations since their storage area was vandalized and hats and other equipment stolen.
Rich LeVardi, vice president of the Pittsfield West Little League, says the response has been "awesome."
He tells The Berkshire Eagle the equipment discovered stolen Tuesday was worth up to $1,000.
Trustco Bank has promised that much alone. Matt Torra, a Pittsfield native and professional baseball player currently in the Tampa Bay Rays spring training camp, has pledged to help. Several other smaller donations have come in.
The league had 72 kids between the ages of 9 and 12 on six teams last season.
Police are investigating.
