GREENPORT, N.Y. - A Cairo man has been arrested after police discovered him engaging in sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl in his car.
The Columbia County Sheriff Office says on Sunday around 9:30 p.m. they responded to a suspicious activity complaint in a parking lot off Graham Avenue in the town of Greenport. When they arrived, police discovered 37-year-old Paul Saxe, of Mountain Avenue, in his vehicle with the female minor.
Officials interviewed both parties and determined they had been engaging in sexual activity at that time. In a later interview with investigators, Saxe made more admissions about his sexual conduct with the 13-year-old girl.
Saxe was arrested that night and charged with Rape 2nd-degree, a felony, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Forcible Touching, and Sexual Abuse 2nd-degree, all misdemeanors. He was remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail pending a February 24th court date.
