ALBANY, N.Y.--The concerns about how much we're paying could heighten, because of a refinery fire in Washington State that threatens to raise prices even more.
Right now, people in the Capital Region are paying about $3.84 for a gallon of gas.
But according to a senior analyst for gasbuddy.com, that dollar amount could go up between five and 20 cents this weekend.
As the dollar amounts go up and up, so do the frustrations at the pump.
"Every day, you wonder how it can go up one, two cents overnight," says Karen Mein of Latham.
Just before talking to News 10, Mein spent $65.00 filling up her tank, and she knows it could soon be more.
"It's crazy, it's all speculation, but we're going to pay the price," she says.
"I guess the main word is efficient, we want the car to run efficient," says Vinny Ciccarelli of Albany Light Truck.
Ciccarelli says there are a list of things you can do that don't take much time or money, the first--check the air pressure in your tires. Doing so can put a dollar per gallon of gas back in your pocket.
The next stop is to clean out your trunk. Ciccarelli says a clean air filter also helps
"There can be mouse nests, leaves and a lot of debris in there," he says. "When you hold it up to the light, you need to be able to see light through the filter."
Ciccarelli says overall, you can increase your fuel economy by 15 percent just by checking off those few items.
Those we talked to at the pump say still, the final cost of filling up is a harsh reality.
"If you need gas in your car, then you've got to get it, no matter how much it costs," says Aisha Owens of Latham.
