NORTH GREENBUSH, N.Y. -- A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday afternoon after a crash in North Greenbush, town police said.
The incident occurred just after 4:30 p.m., when the motorcycle and a Ford Escape collided on Williams Road at its intersection with Meadow Drive.
Police say the motorcyclist, identified as 22-year-old Jared Brenz, of Wyantskill, had just left HVCC and according to witnesses accelerated and started passing cars on the left side of Williams Road. When he approached Meadow Drive, he collided with a Ford suburban and was thrown to the ground.
Police say Brenz was taken to Albany Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Ford, Laura Allen of Troy, sustained minor injuries.
Williams Road was closed for a period of time while the scene was cleaned up.
Investigators are still interviewing witnesses
as to the pre-accident activities. However police say the accident was caused by reckless operation of the
Motorcycle.
"Another senseless death, 22-years-old is much too early to
die," said Chief Rocco M.
Fragomeni of the North Greenbush Police Department. "We can only hope that the reports of this tragedy cause someone else to
pause before they operate a vehicle in a reckless manner."
