ALBANY, N.Y. - The Albany Police Department is investigating two sexual assaults which occurred in the city early Sunday morning.
The first incident occurred in the Pine Hills neighborhood, on Hamilton
Street around 2:15 a.m. Sunday morning. The 21-year-old victim told police she was walking with two friends when a man emerged from behind a fence on the north side of Hamilton Street just east of Quail Street. Police say he
approached the victim and reached up under her skirt and forcibly touched her
before running off.
Police say the suspect is
described as a black male approximately 5'7" with a small build. He was wearing
a black hooded sweatshirt. He was last seen running west on Hamilton Street
towards Ontario
Street.
The second assault occurred in Washington Park around 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning. The victim in this case, a 25-year-old female, told police she was walking home with a friend, when the pair split up the victim continued to walk through the park alone and was attacked by the suspect. According to the report, the suspect approached the victim from behind and pushed her to the ground, putting something to the back of her head and threatened to shoot her if she made
any noise. He proceeded to assault the victim. He threatened to kill victim
if she moved as he fled the scene.
The suspect in this case is described as a black male, 5'7" with a medium build was wearing black baggy sweatpants,
hooded sweatshirt and black knitted winter hat. He was last seen heading
westbound through the park towards New Scotland Avenue.
Police say they are not sure if the two incidents are related.
