Posted:

ALBANY, NY - An Albany building is deemed unsafe to live in at this time after a single car crashed into it on Saturday morning.

The incident happened at 110 Ontario Street at 8:00 a.m.

Police say Russell Tucker, 23, was driving a 2002 Monte Carlo south on Ontario Street when he left the roadway, drove onto the sidewalk, and struck the staircase at 110 Ontario Street.

The building sustained damaged to the foundation. The Building and Codes deemed it unsafe to live in at this time. The Red Cross assisted in evacuating and relocating the residents in the building.

Albany police say it appears that speed was the cause of the accident. Charges against Tucker are pending. Stay tuned with NEWS10 ABC for updates.
