Mild winter weather affects Lake George Winter Carnival

LAKE GEORGE, NY -The turnout at the Lake George Winter Carnival has been lower than normal due to the mild winter this year.

At this point Lake George is completely unfrozen, which is highly unusual for this time of year. The Winter Carnival usually has events on the lake, but most of them had to be canceled. The ice castle that was put up downtown just weeks ago is already melting and crumbling to the ground.

It all adds up to fewer numbers at the carnival itself. This mild weather is also hurting local businesses that rely on the usual up tick in foot traffic from the event.
