Saratoga bed bug problem receives national attention

Posted:

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY - The bed bug problem plaguing some Saratoga Springs' Housing Authority buildings is receiving national attention.

Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department (HUD) hasn't kept a close enough eye on Saratoga's housing program. Now the Republican senator wants HUD to do a thorough audit of Saratoga and to look at all of the Saratoga housing records. Grassley says this is just one example of a nationwide lack of oversight.

The housing authority is working to rid themselves of bed bugs, and New York's comptroller plans to begin auditing Saratoga's Housing Authority on Tuesday.
