ALBANY, N.Y. - Albany police say a teenage girl has been arrested, accused of attacking a boy at an Albany library and tossing liquid bleach on him.

A 15-year-old Livingston Avenue girl, whose identity will not be released due to her age, was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd-degree. The suspect was with another girl inside the library on February 3 waiting for her tutor in the teen area.

The male victim, suffered temporary blindness in his right eye after a soda bottle full of bleach was thrown at him outside the Arbor Hill/West Hill Public Library.

Police say both girls started to make fun of the male victim's clothes and his appearance. According to witnesses the suspect then started taking pictures and video of the victim with her cell phone.

The victim, annoyed by photos being taken, knocked the camera out of the girls hand. The suspect started to yell at the victim and caused a commotion. She stated to him "you're going to get the bleach".

A library employee approached the suspect and her friend and asked them to leave the library because of the noise they were making. Shortly after they left the victim walked out of the library and was confronted by the suspect. She took a Mountain Dew bottle with liquid inside and threw it in the victim's face. Both girls then ran off.

The victim went back inside the library where staffed flushed his eyes out with water. He was taken to Albany Medical Center where he was diagnosed with chemical conjunctivitis to his right eye. The hospital determined the liquid was bleach. He was treated and released with no permanent damage to his eye.

Police are worried attacks like this could be a sign of a future trend. They say the incident at the library was second attack in less than two week involving bleach.

The second incident, police say occurred on Monday at 3:00 p.m. when officers responded to the report of a fight between three girls outside the Adult Learning Center on Western Avenue. When officers arrived the fight was broken up quickly. A school official turned over a soda bottle filled with bleach that was taken from one of the girls involved in the fight.
