SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- For the first time, we are hearing from the new superintendent of the Schenectady City School District.
After a nationwide search, Laurence Spring, who has been the superintendent for the Cortland Enlarged School District for the last six years, was named superintendent before the start of Schenectady's board of education meeting Wednesday.
He said one of the first things he is going to do is get to know the people in the community.
Spring has a tough job ahead of him. He takes over a district that is struggling with budget cuts, which could lead to the closure of a middle school.
