Man killed in Schoharie County logging accident

MIDDLEBURGH, N.Y. -- A Schoharie County man was killed in a logging accident there Wednesday afternoon, officials with the county Sheriff's Office said.

57-year old Charalambos Ioannou was working with his 21-year old son, cutting trees along the Schoharie Creek in the Town of Middleburgh when a tree kicked back and pinned the victim.

Ioannou's son cut the tree off of his father and the 57-year old was then rushed to Cobleskill Regional Hospital.

He was pronounced dead on arrival.
