ALBANY, N.Y. - The suspect involved in Friday's police-related shooting has been charged by detectives with menacing a police officer.
Albany police say 22-year-old Richard Carter, of 9 Pinehurst Avenue, was shot by officers after he pulled what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun from the small of his back and pointed it at three officers in the rear parking lot of the Campus View Apartments on Brevator Street on Friday. The officers involved in the incident, Officers Nate Pendleton, Mark Reith and Richard Romand, are currently on administrative leave as the department's internal investigation continues.
