TROY, N.Y. - A Troy man has been arrested in connection with multiple armed robberies which occurred in Rensselaer County since September 2011.
Michael Moon was arraigned in Rensselaer County Court Friday morning, charged with seven armed and attempted robberies in Rensselaer County since mid-September of 2011. He has been implicated in close to a dozen robberies in the Capital District.
Police say he would walk into the convenience stores wearing a mask, point a weapon, and then take off in a getaway car that was waiting for him outside. Authorities would not say where he was arrested, but tell us it followed a long, extensive investigation that involved nearly a dozen agencies and departments. Ultimately, they got a court order to put a GPS tracking device on Moon's vehicle.
He has a long history with the legal system having served two previous prison sentences for violent crimes. No one was hurt in the string of robberies last Fall. He faces life in prison if convicted on the latest charges.
