ALBANY, N.Y. - A 74-year-old Queensbury man pleaded guilty to downloading and possessing child pornography in Federal District Court in Albany on Wednesday.
In March 2011, investigators seized internet web server logs of a child pornography website and discovered that that residence of Jay Mayer, of Queensbury, had been used to access the website.
A search warrant was then executed and police seized a computer and thumb drives that were used by Mayer to obtain, download, and possess thousands of images of child pornography
Mayer pleaded guilty to one count of receiving child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography. He was sentenced to 60 months of imprisonment, and will be placed on supervised release for 10 years. He was also ordered to have no supervised contact with minors and register as a sex offender.
