Chubby
ALBANY, N.Y. - A well-known advocate for animals and the driving force behind Buster's Law, Assemblyman Jim Tedisco, is now speaking out about a recent case of animal abuse.
Tedisco says he was horrified to hear about the allegations of animal abuse against 'Chubby' who was discovered by a town highway employee on Friday duct taped and left for dead on the side of Coach Road in the Washington County town of Argyle.
On Saturday 52-year-old Shane Morehouse of Fort Edward
was arrested and charged. Morehouse is charged with Cruelty to Animals
and Animal Abandonment, both misdemeanors.
Authorities say Morehouse admitted to doing
this, telling them that the dog belonged to a friend who could no longer
care for him. The friend apparently could not afford the vet bills
associated with the care. State police say Morehouse told the friend the
dog would be released in an open area to die naturally. It is not clear
why Morehouse left the dog like this.
Chubby was taken to a local veterinarian and
treated for his injuries. Unfortunately it was also discovered that the
dog was suffering from an extensive unrelated illness and the animal had
to be euthanized.
Now Tedisco has written a letter to the Washington County District Attorney asking that the DA prosecute Morehouse to the fullest extent of the law.
