SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Schenectady Police Department says they successfully talked a
male from jumping off the Cotton Hollow Factory Bridge on Monday morning.
Police say around 10:00 a.m. they received numerous calls that
a male, whose identity will not
be released, had climbed over the safety fence of the bridge. Officers
arrived on scene to discover a Schenectady resident on the top of the fence
threatening to jump.
Around 10:30 a.m. police, with the assistance of family members, talked the man into climbing down from the fence.
He was taken into custody under
Mental Health Law without incident and was transported to Ellis Hospital for an
evaluation. No criminal charges will be
filed.
I-890 was shut down in both directions for
the duration of the incident.
