STORRS, Conn. (AP) - A University of Connecticut student studying turf and soil sciences has won a spot working with the grounds crew at this weekend's Super Bowl.

Michael Sargent won the opportunity through an educational program of the Toro Co., which joins the National Football League to pick a student each year to work with crews at the championship game.

Sargent is a senior from Belmont, N.H., and is working toward a bachelor's degree in turf and soil sciences, along with a secondary degree in horticulture and a minor in landscape design.

He'll be on the field Sunday in Indianapolis to help with turf maintenance, logo painting, halftime preparation and other duties.

Sunday's Super Bowl pits the New England Patriots against the New York Giants.
