SCHENECTADY, NY - Schenectady County sees a boost in it's sales tax revenue as collections grew by nearly 8 percent in 2011.
Schenectady County collected nearly $89 million dollars in 2011, boosting the county coffers by $6.5 million dollars.
The results were almost $5 million dollars more than was budgeted. County officials say they hope to see continued growth based on the addition of ShopRite in Niskayuna, the new Target store in Glenville opening this year, the continued revitalization of downtown, and the successful redevelopment of Capitol Plaza in Rotterdam.
