Vt. woman charged with cane attack over medication

BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Police say an argument between two Vermont women over medication led one to strike the other with a cane.

Fifty-five-year-old Linda Bell of Bennington has pleaded notn guilty to a felony count of aggravated assault with a weapon. She was released on conditions she not have contact with the alleged victim, 64-year-old Linda Baker.

The Bennington Banner reports Baker told police Bell hit her in the arm with the cane on Christmas Eve because Baker wouldn't' allow her to remove medication from an office space. She said Bell began striking a chair at first, but when Baker went to use the telephone, she said Bell hit her on the arm twice.

Bell told police she was being disrespected.
