Oscar nominations are out and the
initial talk is all about who was snubbed. When I asked the question on Facebook
and Twitter the consensus seemed to be Tilda Swinton in "We Need to Talk About
Kevin," Michael Fassbender for Best Actor in "Shame," Leonardo DiCaprio for Best
Actor in "J. Edgar," "Bridesmaids" for Best Picture, David Fincher for Best
Director in "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and "The Adventures of Tintin"
for Best Animated Feature. But don't let your fave being overlooked give up on
your Oscar party plans!
The Saratoga Film Forum is bringing
the Oscars home this year, with lots of people hosting viewing parties in their home
instead of a big bash.
If you want to roll out the red carpet in style at your
house, check the official Oscar Party Kit from The Academy of Motion Picture
Arts and Sciences.
My favorite food website, Epicurious, is chock full of ideas
from star chef Wolfgang Puck and lots of other well-known foodies. They come up
with party tips and menus inspired by the Best Picture nominees, and until they come up with
one for those just announced this morning, you can check menus from 2011, 2010
and 2009.
Enjoy, and share your best ideas!
