TROY, NY - Officials in Troy say they were forced to close a mile long section of Campbell Avenue because of a water main break.
Campbell Avenue from Spring Avenue to Vandenburgh Avenue has remained closed to through traffic. As crews work to make the necessary repairs, signs are up leading drivers on a detour.
The city blames the delay on old infrastructure. Saying that once crews got a look at the damage, it was far more extensive than they thought.
For two weeks the detour signs have been up on Campbell Avenue, following a water main break.
Residents on the street have been forced to make adjustments. Residents not been able to park in their driveways and have to park down the street. Residents are not the only ones affected, businesses such Franklin Terrace and Inferno Pizzeria say they have had a decline in customers
The deputy director of public information for the City of Troy Michael Frazier says the weather, freezing temperatures, and snow ads time to the project.
The city says it plans to reassess these repairs and have the road opened by the end of the week.
