RHINEBECK, NY - State police say alcohol and speeding were the likely causes of the weekend wreck that killed three young men in Dutchess County.
The accident happened at approximately 1:13 a.m. Sunday morning on State 9G in Red Hook.
The driver of the vehicle, 24-year-old Favio Avila Debernard of Hudson, lost control and went off the shoulder of State 9G striking a tree.
Avila and the two passengers, 22-year-old Ethan Keil of Hudson, and 21-year-old Micah Evans of Tivoli, were all pronounced dead at the scene after rescue crews used cutting tools to free them from the wreckage.
The preliminary investigation has shown that speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
