GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. - The Gloversville Police Department would like to again remind residents of the City of Gloversville of a scam that is going around in the area targeting elderly residents.
There have been recent reports of elderly residents being called and told that a relative is in police custody in another jurisdiction either out of the state or the country.
The caller will request that a money order be sent for legal expenses or bail and the victim will later learn that their relative has not really been arrested.
Persons should not send any money until they can verify with a police agency that their relative has been arrested and is in fact in custody.
Anyone with questions can call Gloversville Police at 773-4506.
