MONTPELIER, Vt. -- Vermont tax payers may want to take extra precautions to make sure they're not victims of identity fraud.
The state's tax department says a computer glitch made the personal data of 1,300 people And 245 businesses public for a short time Tuesday. Social security numbers and federal employer numbers were among the posted data.
The state says the info was public for only two hours, and was taken down as soon as they were made aware of it.
Vermont says the risk to taxpayers is small and they have tracked down almost everyone who accessed the data.
