LEE, MA - State Fire Marshal Stephen D. Coan has ruled the fire that did heavy damage to a Lee lumber yard was started by a malfunctioning engine block heater.
Coan and Lee Fire Chief Alan B. Sparks said their joint investigation into the January 3 fire at Dresser-Hull Lumber Company on Railroad Street was electrical. Investigators have determined the fire started inside the warehouse where materials and several delivery trucks were stored.
There were no injuries reported in the fire. Damage is estimated between $1.5 and $2 million.
The lumber yard remains open for business, even though a number of delivery trucks and a warehouse were lost.
