LEE, Mass. - Several fire companies battled a large fire on a frigid Tuesday night at a lumber yard in Lee, Massachusetts.
Lee police tell NEWS10 that the blaze broke out around 7:45 p.m. at the Dresser-Hull Lumber and Building Supply Company on 60 Railroad Street.
Fire companies from Lee, Stockbridge, and Lenox were among the several crews at the scene. A dispatcher with the Lenox Fire Department told NEWS10 that a crew from their company was still on scene at 11 p.m.
There is no word on any injuries or a cause at this point.
Chief Alan Sparks says the drywall and lumber cubes inside the Dresser-Hull Lumber and Building Supply Company's warehouse continue to ignite making it difficult for the fireman to figure out what caused the initial explosion.
The business owner says hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage was done there, but he is still operating his business as usual.
Dresser-Hull is a combination lumber yard and hardware store. The company's website says the business' roots trace back to 1883, with the Dresser-Hull store itself opening in 1904.
