Doctor arrested, accused of providing alcohol to minors

COLONIE, N.Y. - The Colonie Police Department has arrested a local eye doctor after police say he purchased a keg of beer and contributed to the consumption of alcohol by minors.

On July 29, 2011 police were called to the home of 51-year-old George Statsior, of 20 Chestnut Hill Road in Colonie, around 11:00 p.m. for the report of a loud party.

When officers arrived, they located 15-25 minors in the garage and yard of Statsior's home consuming alcohol. Police say a 16-year-old female was found to be highly intoxicated that night, and needed to be transported to St. Peter's Hospital for treatment.

Police interviewed 15 people, 12 of which were minors that had consumed alcohol from a keg of beer that was purchased by Statsior for an earlier party, but the remains of the keg were consumed at this gathering that was believed to be a party for Stasior's son.

Statsior arrested and released on an appearance ticket. He is charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 2nd-degree, both misdemeanors.

His case is pending and he is due in Colonie Town Court on Feb. 1.
