BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The police department in the Vermont town of Bennington has two new officers on the street.

Twenty-three-year-old Officer Amanda Thomson recently graduated with the 92nd Vermont Police Academy class and is beginning her tenure as a full-time officer this week.

Thomson graduated from Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Central School in 2006 and from Castleton State College in 2010.

Twenty-seven-year-old Officer Nick Holden began working as a full-time member of the department in February after graduating from the Vermont Police Academy's 91st class. A Bennington native, he graduated from Mount Anthony Union High School in 2003 and Southern Vermont College in 2008.

Thomson tells the Bennington Banner she has wanted to work for the Bennington Police Department since she was 12 years old.
