Motorist loses control resulting in serious injuries

BENNGINTON, V.T. – Evidence of alcohol consumption was found in a motor vehicle crash early Sunday morning.

Bennington Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Ore Bed Road at 3:30am with serious injuries reported.

Upon arrival, police found the motorist of a 2001 Ford Focus had lost control of her vehicle on a curve and crashed head-on into two different trees.

The un-restrained operator, Ellora K. Carr, 23 of Bennington and passenger Michael Morales, 24, were initially transported to the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

Morales remained a patient at SVMC with minor injuries while Carr was airlifted by Life Flight to Albany Medical Center with life-threatening internal injuries.

Police found evidence of alcohol consumption inside the vehicle. Bennington Rural Fire Department was also on scene assisting the auto crash.

This incident is under investigation by Officer Roscoe Harrington. Bennington Police Officers went to Albany Medical Center for impaired driving testing on Carr.
