
PITTSFIELD, N.Y. - The Pittsfield Police Department is investigating an apparent homicide that took place late Sunday evening on Wellington Avenue.
Pittsfield police received several 911 calls shortly after 11:30 p.m. reporting gun shots in the middle of Wellington Avenue. When officers arrived they found the victim, 23-year-old Nikolas Carnute, of Pittsfield, lying in the street.
Carnute was transferred to Berkshire Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy to determine the cause of death will be conducted on Tuesday.
Investigators are seeking a white sedan,
possibly a Pontiac, with a rear spoiler seen fleeing from the scene, and are
asking anyone who may have witnessed this attack or who might have information about the vehicle
