ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) - The Albany Holiday Tree is in it's place ready for the lighting ceremony this Sunday.
It is a 35 foot blue spruce standing between the Egg and the Capitol building. The tree is wrapped with 14 strings of lights, that is close to 2,000 colorful LED bulbs.
The tree was donated by Chet and Filomena Fiacco of Mechanicville.
The Tree Lighting Festival gets underway at 1:00 P.M. this Sunday at the Empire State Plaza.
There were many free activites during the day that consisted of meeting Santa Claus, chocolate expo and a holiday gift market.
The offical SEFU Tree Lighting Program begins at 5:15 and fireworks will follow around 5:30 P.M.
If you did not make it to the event, the tree will be lit every night during the holidays from dusk to 11:00 P.M.
