GREEN ISLAND, NY (NEWS10) - A man was arrested for violating Leandra's Law in Green Island on Saturday.
Police say Patrick Goyette, 40, of Green Island, was driving without his headlamps on when he was pulled over by police on Tibbits Avenue at 6:00 P.M.
Police noticed a strong odor of alcohol on him as well as several other indicators that led them to believe that he was intoxicated.
Goyette submitted to field sobriety tests and failed. He was found to have a blood alcohol content of .15%. Goyette had his 11-year-old son in the car at the time. He was taken into custody and taken to the Green Island Police Department for processing.
Goyette was charged with the Felonies of Aggravated DWI (Leandra's Law) and Driving While Intoxicated for having a previous conviction. He was also charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Third Degree for having a suspended driver's license and the traffic violation of inadequate lights. His license was suspended for failure to answer a summons.
