Valleycats help rebuild Schoharie Little League field

SCHOHARIE, N.Y. - Work is underway on Wednesday to rebuild the Schoharie Little League Field that was badly damaged by flooding during Tropical Storm Irene.

Baseball season might be months away but some important work is being done Wednesday to make sure the 160 kids who participate can play on the Little League field next spring.

Flood waters washed away the field, lifted dugouts right off their foundations, and devastated the organization's equipment.

On Wednesday, staff members from the Tri-City Valleycats are helping to rebuild the field, and make sure everything is back to playing condition.

The Valleycat's Vice President and General Manager Rick Murphy says giving back to the community is a tradition with the team and they are more than happy to help out.

This is the 11th field that the Valleycats have rebuilt in the past ten years.

Schoharie Little League is very appreciative of their efforts, as well as the help of so many others who have donated to the organization.

All of the work is expected to be done in the next few days.
