ALBANY, N.Y. - Tuesday marks the national "Dads Take Your Child To School Day" to encourage fathers to get more involved in their children's education.
Studies show that kids do better in school and are more likely to succeed when fathers or father-figures take an active interest in their children's education. That is why 27 counties across New York State are taking part in "Dads Take Your Child To School Day."
At many schools dads have the opportunity to do more than just drop their child off, they are encouraged to take part in their child's education by volunteering in the classroom, story time or other learning experiences. Many participating schools have incentives and programs specifically for dad this year, such as offering breakfast with their children.
