In the Democratic primary for District 2 of the Albany County Legislature, Merton Simpson has claimed victory over incumbent Wanda Willinghan. Simpson won by just under 100 votes.

Another incumbent Democrat fell in the primary for District 6 of legislature as Noelle Kinsch won over Brian Scavo with 66% of the vote.

RENSSELAER COUNTY

In the Democratic primary for District 4 of Troy City Council, Robert Doherty took on Councilman-at-Large Michael LoPorto. Doherty won by about ten percentage points. LoPorto was recently indicted in the Working Families Party absentee ballot fraud case.

SARATOGA COUNTY

Taking a look at the Republican primary race for Milton Town Supervisor, challenger Daniel Lewza won against incumbent Frank Thompson by around 400 votes. Thompson's wife, Deborah, pleaded guilty last month to felony grand larceny for stealing money from an 83-year old woman she was working for. Frank Thompson was cleared of any wrong doing in that case. In a separate matter, authorities are currently investigating Supervisor Thompson's financial disclosure information.
