EVACUATIONS
SCHENECTADY COUNTY:
Schenectady County and the Towns of Rotterdam, Glenville, and Niskayuna, the City of Schenectady, and Village of Scotia are strongly advising residents in flood prone areas to evacuate as a precaution due to possible flooding of the Mohawk River. It is also advised that residents in surrounding areas watch for possible rising water levels.
ROTTERDAM: Schenectady County and the Town of Rotterdam have issued a mandatory evacuation of residents in flood prone areas of Rotterdam Junction and Pattersonville. National Weather Service data indicates that additional rain out west in addition to river debris, saturated soils and elevated river levels will lead to possible major flooding of the Mohawk River. A shelter has been set up at Schalmont High School gym.
The evacuation areas include:
· The south side of Main Street in Rotterdam Junction between the Rotterdam Junction Fire Department and Leggiero Lane.
· 1516 – 1600 Main Street
· Ferry St.
· Elm St.
The City of Schenectady: Officials are advising, in the interest of public safety, those areas downstream that are prone to flooding, including the Stockade neighborhood should be evacuated by midnight Wednesday.
As a reminder, those who take prescribed medicines should bring their prescriptions with them when they evacuate.
GREENE COUNTY:
Prattsville
There has been a voluntary evacuation order issued for the Village of Prattsville, alongside Schoharie Creek and alongside the Bataviakill Creek.
SCHOHARIE COUNTY: HAS LIFTED THE EVACUATION ORDER EFFECTIVE THURS. at 8:30am
However, there is still minor flooding along the Schoharie Creek that is being monitored. Please contact your Local Fire Department for emergency information for your area.
