SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Hall of Fame jockey Kent Desormeaux was arrested Wednesday night for allegedly trying to run over a NYRA security guard with his car.
Saratoga Springs police say 41-year-old Desormeaux, of Weston, Fla., was driving his 2003 Porsche at Saratoga Race Course around 6:30 p.m. when he allegedly hit the employee outside the gate of track.
No injuries were reported.
Desormeaux was charged with Reckless Endangerment 2nd, a misdemeanor, and was released on $500 bail later that night.
Desormeaux is a three-time Kentucky Derby winner. He was scheduled to be in two races on Thursday at Saratoga Race Course, however NYRA sewards have decided against allowing him to ride based on the allegations.
Desormeaux is set to appear in Saratoga City Court Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. The motive for the incident is unknown, and will be discussed in court.
