GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. (WTEN) -- Gloversville police said they arrested two parolees on violations Wednesday, one of them after a short standoff in the city.
According to Capt. John Sira, police and the New York State Division of Parole acted on information mid-evening that a known parole violator was inside a residence on North Main Street.
Upon arrival, police were able to get all occupants out of the house except for the parolee. Sira said the parolee barricaded himself inside for around 15 minutes before giving himself up peacefully.
State and Johnstown police assisted Gloversville in apprehending the man.
Sira said that the other parolee, who was not involved with the standoff, was arrested earlier in the day without incident in the City of Johnstown.
The names of the two men brought into custody are not being released at this time. Sira said more information will be released Thursday.
The arrests come after three violent incidents in the city this month, including a shooting Monday behind Naif's Grocery on North Main Street. The victim, who received a gunshot wound to the face, was taken to Nathan Littauer Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
No arrests have been made in that shooting.
Prior to that, police have also been investigating another shooting and a stabbing. Both victims in those incidents survived.
