TROY, N.Y. - The car that three sibling fugitives from Florida are driving may be registered to a Troy city address, police say.
Allegedly the car, a white sedan, was stolen from one of the Doughertys brother's girlfriends.
Police say they traced the car registration back to a Troy address, but the girl has since moved to Florida and has no further connections with upstate New York.
Police say the latest "credible information" they have received is the people matching the description of three siblings connected to crimes in Florida and Georgia were spotted in Colorado as of 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police didn't release other details of the sighting.
They were not driving the same car that is possibly from Troy.
Colorado Springs Sgt. Steven Noblitt says it hasn't been confirmed that 21-year-old Ryan Edward Dougherty, 26-year-old Dylan Dougherty Stanley and 29-year-old Lee Grace Dougherty are in the area, but the people spotted Tuesday were in a small white vehicle with the stolen Texas license plate LCS 909. A nationwide manhunt for the three began Aug. 2. The siblings are accused of opening fire at a Florida officer and then robbing a bank in Georgia.
